How do I become an endorser?
Thank you for your interest in becoming an endorser in arXiv!
Endorser status is completely automated and not something that has to be requested, nor can arXiv staff make you an endorser at your request.
Endorser status in arXiv is limited to arXiv authors who have a certain number of recent announced articles linked to their author account in arXiv. Endorser status is not a function of career status, eminence within a field, nor other other factors such as affiliation or other publication variables (such as “Editor in chief of a journal”, number of works published outside of arXiv, etc).
The number of required announced articles varies by subject area, but is typically between 2 and 5 articles that have been originally made public in arXiv within the period of 5 years to 3 months ago. This ensures that submitters who are newer to arXiv do not receive requests for endorsement immediately, but also ensures that users who have stopped using arXiv for their research are not listed as endorsers (e.g. after they have left academia).
You must have an active positive endorsement yourself to the intended subject area before you can become an endorser, irrespective of the number of articles you have in related categories.
