Why is my submission on Hold?

If your submission has been on hold it is either due to a technical problem or that our moderators needed additional time to consider the content. Usually most submissions that are on Hold will be resolved within 48 hours.

Technical problem

If there is a technical problem our staff will contact you to follow up. We are working through submissions as they come in and will contact you if any action is needed by the author to resolve the problem. Common issues that you may want to double check:

• Are your references appearing correctly?

• If you submitted a PDF, is the text machine readable? (can you copy/paste text from the PDF)

  • Note we do not accept scans

• Are there line numbers?

Moderation delay

Due to the volume of mail arXiv receives, we are not able to provide regular status updates for papers on hold for moderation. Upon resolution, your submission will be deposited in arXiv, or we will contact you with further information.

More than 48 hours?

If it has been longer than 48 hours please feel free to contact us via our support portal and we will check on the status. Please include the submission number in your inquiry.
